New Zealand Pathology Observation Code Sets (Orders and Results) Business Process

This project has created a New Zealand subset of LOINC (Logical Observation Identifiers Names and Codes) to develop a code set for ordering and reporting of observations for a number of laboratory tests utilised in the New Zealand health sector.

In September 2008, the code sets for microbiology and some gynaecological cytology codes were added and the Business Process document was updated to reflect these changes.

The following NZPOCS codes in the Results Code set have been deleted and replaced with LOINC Codes as of December 2009:

XNZ0081 Cholesterol (LDL) calculated code has been deleted and replaced with 39469-2 LOINC code
XNZ0150 5HIAA/creat urine 24h code has been deleted and replaced with 47545-9 LOINC code
XNZ0281 AHG (direct, IgG) code has been deleted and replaced wtih 52114-6 LOINC code
XNZ0082 Cholesterol (LDL) (assay) code has been deleted and replaced with 22748-8 LOINC code
XNZ0385 CMV IgG avidity code has been deleted and replaced with 45326-6 LOINC code
XNZ0134 Creat clearance (1.73 body SA) code has been deleted and replaced with 12195-4 LOINC code
XNZ0012 Dopamine/creat urine 24h code has been deleted and replaced with 44918-1 LOINC code
XNZ0058 Glucose (1h post 75g glucose) code has been deleted and replaced with 51597-3 LOINC code
29760-6 Bilirubin (conj) LOINC code has been deleted and replaced with 14629-0 LOINC code.

The following new code has been created:

XNZ0436 HbA1c reported as mmol/L
